Inspired by Ikea's holiday UK giveaway today I take on their Swedish meatball recipe myself and I think it turned out amazing. You be the judge!

DIY 10 LB Turkey Sized IKEA Meatball

 Giant or normal size bound to bring you right to Sweden.  Just follow these instructions.

 THINGS YOU'LL NEED:

  • Extra Large Mixing Bowl
  • Wok or Large Frying Pan to Sear
  • Large Sheet Tray
  • Tin Foil
  • Large Pot
  • Fod Processor
  • Extra Large Serving Plate

INGREDIENTS:

Meatball:

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1/2 lb Ground Pork
  • 1 Onion Finely Chopped
  • 1 Clove Garlic Minced
  • 100g Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • 5 Tbsp Milk
  • Salt and Pepper
Cream Sauce:
  • Dash of Oil
  • 40g butter
  • 150ml Beef Stock
  • 150ml Vegetable Stock
  • 150ml Heavy Cream
  • 2 tsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon Mustard
Mashed Potatoes:
  • 1 lb Potatoes
  • 1 Stick Butter room temperature
  • 1/2 Cup Reserved Potato 
  • 1/4 Cup Milk
  • Salt and Pepper To Taste
Garnish with Parsley

INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Combine the beef and pork. Add onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt and pepper. (Multiply this recipe by 5 for a. GIANT 10lb meatball. )
  2. Shape mixture into small or 1 big ball. Place on a plate and place in the oven for 2 hours. This will help them keep their shape. 
  3. In a frying pan. Heat oil to medium heat. When hot gently add meatballs and brown on all sides. 
  4. When browned set them in an oven proof dish or tinfoil and cover. Place in a hot oven 350F for 30 minutes or until cooked through. 
  5. To make the mashed potatoes peal and cube the potatoes, and boil for about 10 minutes or until fork tender. Place in a blender and blitz with butter, potato water, milk, salt and pepper. 
  6. For the iconic Swedish cream sauce melt butter in the same pan you cooked the meatball. Whisk in flour for a bout 2 minutes. Add both beef and vegetable stock continuing to stir. Then add the cream, soy sauce, dijon mustard. Bring to a simmer to thicken and add salt and pepper to taste. 
  7. Serve on a plate with mashed potatoes, covered in sauce, topped with chopped parsley
