DIY GIANT PIZZA POT PIE 🍕🥧

The genius idea of combining pizza and pot pies birthed the glorious pizza pot pie invented by a restaurant in Chicago. This dish is incredibly cheesy and jam packed with everyones favorite flavors of pizza but with a new fun way to eat. If you've never seen or heard of it before we're ecstatic to be the messenger and highly recommend you make this either as a personal pizza pot pie or feed a family of 4 with our giant version.


Ingredients:
  • 2 1/2 Pounds Mozzarella
  • 1 Stick Butter
Meat Sauce
  • 2 Large Cans of San Marzano
  • 1 White onion
  • 1 Green Pepper
  • 8 Garlic Cloves, minced
  • Baby Bella Mushrooms
  • 1 lb Pork
  • 1 lb Ground Chuck
Pizza Dough
  • Yeast
  • Warm Water
  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Olive Oil
THINGS YOU’LL NEED:

Instructions:

  1. Start by making the pizza dough. Activate the yeast in warm water with sugar, as directed on the packet. Add the activated yeast to the stand mixer and salt and flour. Punch it down, until the air comes out, let rise for one hour. Repeat.
  2. Make the meat sauce with 1/2 ground pork and 1/2 ground beef, add tomatoes, chopped onions, minced garlic, bring to a boil and reduce for about 1-3 hours. Stirring throughout. The longer the sauce simmers, and cooks down, the better it will taste.
  3. In a large porcelain bowl brush in melted butter. Layer in mozzarella cheese slices. Add the fillings. The classic version has mushrooms. Ladle in the meat sauce. Place the dough on top. Bake for 30-45 minutes.
  4. When golden brown and cooked through take out of the oven and cool for 5 minutes. Carefully flip the bowl on a large cutting board or plate. Use a spoon to pull the pizza dough away from the bowl and pull the bowl off the top of the pizza pot pie. Dig in!
