Animal Style Fries

I had no idea how popular Animal Fries were until I found out that they’re not that popular.  I do however love the blend of grilled onions and 1,000 island dressing on top of my fries, but the word Animal to me implies meat, which this does not have.  In-N-Out may be missing out on the vegetarian band wagon with their misleading title.  Regardless, enjoy HellthyJunkFood’s copycat version at home.

Recipe Type: Appetizer
Cuisine: American
Serves: 4 Servings

Ingredients:

  • 2-6 Medium Russet Potatoes
  • 8 Kraft American Cheese Singles
  • 1 Large White Onion
  • ½ Tsp Sugar
  • ½ Cup Animal Sauce
  • Vegetable Oil for Frying
  • Water and Ice
  • Shoe String Fry Cutter

Animal Sauce:

  • ½ Cup Mayonnaise
  • ½ Cup Ketchup
  • ¼ Cup Dill Pickle Relish
  • 1 Tsp Yellow Mustard
  • ½ Tsp Black Pepper
  • ½ Tsp Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Apple Cider Vinegar

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:

Instructions:

  1. Ideally you should cut your russet potatoes to the size of shoe strings, but that is difficult to obtain without proper equipment.
  2. Once your potatoes are cut, soak them in ice water and rinse off any excess starch.
  3. Dry them thoroughly and begin by frying for 5 minutes @ 350°F
  4. Freeze or refrigerate until later.
  5. Cut a large white onion into small dice sizes and grill on medium low heat with oil. This process if done correctly should take about 10 to 15 minutes.
  6. For the sauce, simply mix what you see in the ingredients above and refrigerate after use.
  7. Fry the potatoes again for 5 more minutes and then immediately toss them into a big bowl with salt and shake it around.
  8. Plate with the fries first, two slices of american cheese, grilled onions and then top it with animal sauce.
  9. Take a bite and enjoy the moment. You won't have too many of these moments if you keep eating this shit.
