DIY Giant Pizza Hut Breadsticks

Been searching for a show stopping recipe to wow your friends and just don't know what to make? Go no further! Everyones favorite Pizza Hut menu item has now been made bigger than ever and the best part about it is it tastes exactly like the real thing and it's easy to make.

These breadsticks are great on their own, paired up with our spot on Pizza Hot marinara, but also a huge treat cut in half longways and topped off with more sauce, cheese, and toppings. Cooking up your own breadstick pizza!

Ingredients:

  • 2 2/3 Cup Warm Water (105°F)
  • 1/2 Cup Powdered Milk
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 8 Cups Flour
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Dry Yeast
  • 4 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 8 Tbsp Melted Butter
Dipping Sauce Ingredients:

  • 1 Can (15 oz) Tomato Sauce
  • 6 oz Tomato Paste
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Dry Oregano
  • ½ Tsp Marjoram
  • ½ Tsp Dry Basil
  • ½ Tsp Garlic Powder
  • ½ Tsp Salt

Toppings:

  • 2 Tbsp Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 Tsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 Tsp Garlic Salt
  • 2 Tsp Onion Powder
  • 2 Tsp Oregano
  • 2 Tsp Basil

Pizza Toppings:

  • Shredded mozzarella
  • Pepperonis, mushrooms, pineapple, (Choose your favorite)

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:

Instructions:

  1. Combine the yeast, sugar, salt & dry milk in a bowl. Add 2-2/3 Cups hot water and mix well and then let this sit until the mixture foams up. Roughly 10 minutes.
  2. Add 4 Tbsp Vegetable Oil and slowly add 8 Cups of Flour to stand mixer and mix or knead depending on your equipment for 4-5 minutes. If you are using a stand mixer make the dough in two batches by cutting the ingredients in half and repeating step 1 and 2.
  3. Carefully cut the bottom of the deep alluminum pan out and place on your big sheet pan. Use tin foil to reconnect and cover.
  4. Spread about 8 Tbsp of Vegetable Oil onto prepared baking pan and let your dough ball rise in this pan, covered for 1-1/2 hours.
  5. Once it's doubled in size, spread the dough out to the corners of the pan and cut the dough into 6 equal giant breadsticks.
  6. Now Bake at 500°F for 30 minutes and remove from the oven to get our finishing salty glaze on.
  7. Mix the dry toppings into a cheese shaker bottle. If you don't have this, then don't worry... I'm sure you can do this without the shaker bottle.
  8. For the sauce, simply combine the ingredients listed into a small pot and heat on a stove top.
  9. Once the breadsticks have cooled down a bit, brush the tops with melted butter and then sprinkle on the dry topping seasoning blend.
  10. Broil for 2-5 minutes to get that golden brown color on top and you're done.
  11. Take the breadsticks one step further by cutting in half longways, adding marinara, cheese, and toppings, and baking for 10 minutes. Breadstick pizza!! Yum!!
