Happy Meal Prep

We decided to finally jump on the meal prep trend, but instead, let’s make it fun for kids!  I wish my mom packed me a homemade happy meal a day for lunch during the week.  Well now you can beg your mom to do it with this easy to follow step by step process to make Happy Meals at home.  *TOY NOT INCLUDED*

Ingredients:


  • 1 lb 80/20 Ground Beef
  • 8 Hamburger Buns
  • Fit & Active American Cheese Singles
  • 4 Granny Smith Apples
  • Veggie Straws
  • Animal Crackers
  • Apple Juice Boxes

Optional Condiments:


  • Ketchup / Mustard Packets
  • Salt & Pepper Packets
  • Dehydrated Minced Onions
  • Dill Pickle Chips

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:



Instructions:


  1. You can get free ketchup, mustard, salt & pepper from fast food joints if you don't mind being a bit sleazy.
  2. Optionally you can skin your apples, but that's only at your child's request of course.
  3. Portion ½ an apple per meal into spears
  4. Portion 4 animal crackers per meal
  5. Portion approximately 10-15 grams of veggie straws per meal
  6. Weigh out 45 grams of ground beef and press into thin flat burger patties
  7. Grill burgers for approximately 2 minutes per side at 250°F and let them drain on paper towel
  8. Re hydrate the mined onions in water. Use approximately ½ tsp for each burger
  9. Build your burger with the hamburger bun, burger patty, american cheese, dehydrated onions and 1 pickle chip
  10. Make sure everything is sealed in a zip lock baggy for the week
  11. Tip: Repeat this process 52 times and you can have happy meals everyday for a year!!!
