KFC Potato Wedges

I cannot deny the urge I have to order potato wedges as a side at KFC instead of going the healthy route and ordering from a different restaurant.  I mean, mashed potatoes are awesome with gravy, but so are potato wedges with gravy and so is mac & cheese with gravy.  But believe it or not, you can eat a potato wedge with nothing and it’s still gravy, unlike mashed potatoes.  So for my cheat day I deserve a potato wedge and so do you.

Ingredients:


  1. 10 White Potatoes
  2. 1 Cup All Purpose Flour
  3. Seasoning Blend
  4. 1-1/2 Cups Water
  5. Peanut Oil for frying
  6. 11 Secret Herbs & Spices
  7. 1 tsp Salt
  8. 1 tsp MSG
  9. ½ tsp Black Pepper
  10. 1 tsp Sage
  11. 1 tsp Oregano
  12. ½ tsp Paprika
  13. ½ tsp Cayenne
  14. ½ tsp Cumin
  15. ½ tsp Turmeric
  16. ½ tsp Onion Powder

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:



Instructions:


  1. So we brined about 5 potatoes in 5 Cups of water with 1 Tbsp Salt & 1 Tbsp MSG overnight. Did it make a difference? We have no idea, b/c we never tried it without brining to compare. So this step can be labeled optional.
  2. Boil the potatoes for 4-5 minutes or until they are fork tender, then strain and pat them dry.
  3. In a big bowl, combine the 11 Secret Herbs & Spices along with 1 Cup All Purpose Flour & 1-1/2 Cups of water until you get a smooth pancake batter consistency. Start with 1 Cup of water and add more until you reach that consistency.
  4. Dunk the fries into the batter, let the remaining batter drain off and place on parchment paper.
  5. Freeze for 2 hours.
  6. Deep fry @ 375°F for 5 minutes then toss directly into a bowl with salt & pepper and shake the bowl until fully coated.
  7. That's it.
