ONLY EATING BLACK FOOD FOR 24 HRS

Eating only one color for 24 hours is easy. Especially if you're only eating junk food...

that is until you recognize the ONLY color you can eat is black.

DIY BLACK FOOD - BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER, & DESSERT

Black food? Piece of cake. It literally could be. Turns out this challenge was extremely difficult... DO NOT ATTEMPT!


We tested out some recipes at home during our 24 hour challenge including Black Eggs and Ham, a Black Cheeseburger with Black Fries, and a Black Milkshake. All the color black and still very tasty. As these look pretty cool... perfect for a Halloween event... probably should never be recreated.

Black Eggs and Ham for Breakfast

Ingredients:
  • Black Food Dye
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 2 Slices of Black Forest Ham
THINGS YOU’LL NEED:

Instructions:

  1. Separate the egg yolk from whites for two eggs. Dye whites black.
  2. Burn Ham or cover in Black Food Dye and griddle
  3. Place down egg mold on pan preheated to medium high heat. Spray with oil.
  4. Pour in black whites cook for 30 seconds. Place egg yolk back. Cook through.

Black Burger and Fries for Lunch

Ingredients:
  • Bread Dough
  • Black Food Dye
  • Ground Beef
  • American Cheese
  • Tomato
  • Shredded Lettuce
  • Potato
  • Ketchup
THINGS YOU’LL NEED:

Instructions:

  1. Knead Black Food Dye into Bread Dough. Place in an oiled bowl, flip, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  2. Slice 1 potato into fries, place in an ice bowl filled with black water (water combined with black food dye), let set for 1 hour.
  3. Cut dough into 3 oz pieces and roll into buns. Place on an oiled pan, cover, and let rise for 1 hour. Bake for 20 minutes.
  4. Take fries out of the ice bath and place on a tray to dry. Bake for 30 minutes in an oven at 450 ° F.
  5. Melt cheese in the microwave, add black food dye, place in parchment paper and press out into a thin cheese slice. Refrigerate.
  6. Put 3 drops of black food dye in a bowl with 1/2 cup of water. Coat tomato and lettuce with black dye.
  7. Press out beef into a burger patty. Pan sear on a pan medium high heat for 3 minutes per side or until cooked to the temperature you like.
  8. Slice bun in half and griddle.
  9. Build your burger! Bottom bun, Lettuce, tomato, burger, cheese, top bun. Serve with a side of fries and black ketchup.

Black Milkshake

This drink pairs perfect with the black burger and fries. Great on it's own as well. Quick, easy, and dark as night... this shake is perfect for a tasty yet creepy sweet treat.

Ingredients:
  • Ice Cream
  • Milkshake
  • Cool Whip
  • Black Food Dye
THINGS YOU’LL NEED:

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl combine 1 cup of cool whip with 1 drop of black food gel. Stir.
  2. In a blender place 4 scoops of ice cream, 1/2 cup of whipped cream, and 2 drops of black food gel. Blitz.
  3. Grab up a HJF pint glass and pour your shake in and dollop the whipped cream on top.
